Across a couple of my clients I've noticed a select few directories spamming their domains with follow links. The follow links all have the same anchor text and seem to be increasing monthly. We never acquired these for their domains so I'm not sure where they are coming come. We use Sem Rush for our backlinking analysis.
Does anyone know why this is? Also any information for how to combat this would be greatly appreciated, should we disavow them through search console?

Unless and until your clients are hit with manual actions, there is nothing to combat.
