I have encountered an issue I´ve never seen before and need some help from more experienced fellows here.
I am currently working on a site using Yoast and its sitemap has been submitted successfully and there aren´t any crawl errors whatsoever.
But, the main sitemap (powered by Yoast) doesn´t display any discovered URLs. and, when checking inside, all three (3) secondary sitemaps does show discovered URLs.

The root sitemap (sitemap_index.xml) doesn’t have any XML URLs to discover as your pages are all contained in the individual children's sitemaps.
Each sitemap is technically its own entity, the root one just combines them together in one easy URL so you don’t have to submit them all individually.
Sometimes if you have a cache it's good to go in turn off sitemaps in Yoast and then back on and clear the cache. But most likely if you click the children sitemaps you will see your URLs.
