You need to perform keyword research before you do anything.  Because let's face it you don't want to create a page/blog just for the sake of creating a page or blog right?  You probably want it to rank and people to see it. So unless you are creating things just for the sake of creating things you should perform keyword research.

Some of the most popular Keyword Research Tools:

  1. SEMrush - Highly recommended by multiple users, SEMrush is praised for its comprehensive keyword research capabilities, including the Keyword Magic Tool.

  2. Ahrefs - Another popular choice, Ahrefs is known for its powerful keyword research features and robust SEO tools.

  3. Google Keyword Planner - This tool is favored for its reliability and integration with Google Ads, making it a go-to for many users.

  4. Ubersuggest - A free or affordable option that is appreciated for its simplicity and effectiveness, especially by users looking for cost-effective solutions.

  5. KWFinder - Recognized for its user-friendly interface and accurate keyword difficulty scoring.

  6. Keywords Everywhere - A browser extension that provides keyword data on the go, popular for its convenience and accessibility.

  7. Serpstat - A comprehensive tool that offers keyword research alongside other SEO functionalities.

  8. Jaaxy - A less common but still notable tool mentioned for its keyword research capabilities.

  9. BiQ SEO Suite - Unique for showing keyword intent types, and offering a free-tier option, making it a good alternative.

  10. SEO Powersuite - Although less frequently mentioned, it is used by some for its extensive SEO and keyword research capabilities.

My personal go-to is KeywordTool.io because I do a diverse amount of keyword research from Google to TikTok and this tool works with most platforms.  Keep in mind no keyword tool is 100% accurate but they give you an idea if you should attempt to rank for that keyword.

What's the most important factor when it comes to keyword research?
I personally look for traffic and a high CPC also known as cost per click.  Another important metric is competition if this is high then your odds of ranking easily typically go down.  Remember all metrics should be taken with a grain of salt as they aren't always accurate.  Another way I perform keyword research is to check competitors or keywords using Ahrefs and sort by backlinks or DR and then check the sites ranking to see if they can easily be overthrown.

Understanding User Intent: During keyword research, it's essential to understand the intent behind the keywords people are searching for. This helps you select the right keywords to target based on what your audience is looking to achieve—whether they are seeking information, looking to buy something, or navigating to a specific site.

As an example, if you were a painter ranking for "Paint" probably wouldn't yield many visitors looking to hire a painter versus Painters Near Me.

Tip: Use common sense if you were to search for it what would you search for?  I use these terms a lot even when the search volume equals 0.

Some tools are easier to use than others and even if it's not very accurate it's still 100% better than zero keyword research.  Once you have established your keywords you can then start designing a strategy and building out your pages/posts based on your research and strategy.
